Shillong, Nov 29: An Under Trial Prisoner lodged in Jowai District Jail and Correctional Home passed away on his was to being transported to Jowai Civil Hospital Ialong yesterday.

This UTP has been identified as Tenkini Siangshai (32) resident of Wapungskur, East Jaintia Hills District.

His elder brother Nidalut Siangshai said that they were informed about Tenkini’s demise at around 4:38 pm yesterday after Tenkini reached Jowai Civil Hospital Ialong.

Meanwhile, the family has demanded an inquiry into the circumstances which led to Tenkini’s death.

Meanwhile, police have completed the needed legal work and have handed ower Tenkini’s mortal remains to his bereaved family.
