675 households in Mawkynrew affected by natural calamities

Shillong, Sept 20: A total of 675 households have been affected by natural calamities under the Mawkynrew C&RD block from last year till date, Minister in-charge Revenue & Disaster Management Kyrmen Shylla said in a reply to a starred question tabled in the Assembly today.

He informed that the total amount of loss reported is Rs 1,05,20,480. So far, an amount of Rs 22,78,750 has been paid to the affected households and the balance amount due is under process.

PWDs to get free stipendiary training

Shillong, Sept 18: The National Career Service Centre for Differently Abled, Shillong will start a free stipendiary training in Computer Application and Electrical and home Appliance Repair to Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjans) candidates belonging to Orthopedically Handicapped, Visual Impairment, Hearing impairment, Mild Intellectual disability, Multiple Disabilities and Nile Leprosy Cured.

The duration of the training programme is six months to a maximum of one year. During the period of the training programme, the concerned beneficiary will get a stipend amount of Rs. 2,500/- per month through the DBT process.

Interested candidates are requested to submit their bio-data along with desired documents like educational qualification, disability certificate, Aadhar card, caste certificate, passport size photo & bank account details to the office situated at Keating Road on or before 30th September 2023.

National Career Service Centre for Differently Abled (erstwhile VRC) is a subordinate office under Directorate General of Employment (DGE), Ministry of Labour & Employment Govt. of India and has been working for the welfare of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) through counselling, evaluation, imparting non-formal vocational training, rehabilitation and other outreach activities in order to bring them into the mainstreams model of development since October 2022 in the state of Meghalaya.
