Septuagenarian nabbed with ganja

Nongpoh, April 6: Jorabat police team on the outskirts of the Guwahati metropolis has arrested a smuggler involved in the smuggling of ganja from the outpost area.

The smuggler was arrested from the 8 Mile area on the Assam side under the Jorabat police outpost with 21 kgs of marijuana which are commonly known as ‘Ganja’ during the campaign led by Jorabat police post in-charge Kapil Pathak.

The arrested smuggler has been identified as Bindeshwar Rai (65), a resident of Mukundpur Garahi in the Vaishali district of Bihar. Apart from ganja, the police also seized Rs 63,300 in cash from the arrested person.

Police said that the arrested accused has been smuggling ganja in Khanapara and its surrounding areas for a long time. Police are investigating the matter and an FIR has been filed in this regard under the NDPS Act.
