Senior Congress leader and former party president Sonia Gandhi has been admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi following a decline in her health.
According to sources, Gandhi was taken to the hospital on Sunday evening, June 15, for a routine medical check-up. However, her health condition reportedly worsened, leading to her hospitalisation for further observation and treatment.
A statement from the hospital confirmed that she is under the care of a team of doctors led by Dr. Arup Basu, a senior consultant in the Department of Chest Medicine. While specific details about her condition have not been disclosed, medical officials have said her condition is currently stable.
The Congress party has not yet issued an official update, but several party leaders and supporters have expressed their wishes for her speedy recovery.
Sonia Gandhi, aged 77, has had previous health concerns and regularly undergoes medical examinations at Ganga Ram Hospital.
