Shillong, July 4: The Institutional Biosafety Committee at NEIGRIHMS successfully organised a one-day orientation programme on July 1 to raise awareness about biosafety regulations in biomedical research.
Over 100 participants attended the programme, which aimed to sensitise faculty, resident doctors, and students about compliance with biosafety protocols when handling pathogens.
The Director of NEIGRIHMS emphasised the importance of research safety and praised the organising team for promoting a research-oriented environment at the institute.
Guest speaker from Assam Agricultural University discussed occupational risks and the need for strict adherence to biosafety norms laid out by the Department of Biotechnology.
The IBSC was constituted in 2024 and is registered with the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India.
