Shillong, July 4: A group of 100 students from the eight North Eastern states visited the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in Bengaluru on June 26–27 under the NE-SPARKS programme, funded by the North Eastern Council.

The students explored cutting-edge space facilities and watched exclusive footage of the Chandrayaan-3 mission. On the first day, they toured the ISRO Telemetry, Tracking and Command Network (ISTRAC), followed by a visit to the U R Rao Satellite Centre and the ISRO Satellite Integration and Test Establishment on the second day.

The programme gave students exposure to satellite systems, models, and educational exhibits on space technology.

This initiative aims to inspire students to pursue careers in astronomy, space science, and STEM fields. A total of 800 students—100 from each North Eastern state—are expected to participate in future visits. So far, two visits have been completed.

The visits are organised in coordination with state governments and educational institutions to ensure broad outreach and sustained impact.
