Shillong, March 18: The Meghalaya Upper Primary School Teachers Association (MUPSTA) today submitted a memorandum to education minister Rakkam A Sangma to remind about the demand to upgrade 844 Upper Primary Adhoc School to Deficit System.

In a letter to the minister in charge, the MUPSTA said that their demand is genuine as the state government has already sent the proposal to all Sub-divisional School Education Officers (SDSEO) in the state on this matter.
The letter stated that all Upper Primary Adhoc Schools in Meghalaya have already prepared all necessary documents and sent to the SDSEO since 2019-2020 with regard to the demand of up-grading 844 Upper Primary Adhoc Schools to the Deficit System.
“According to the RTI reports, since 1989-1990 the state government has not up-grade any Upper Primary Adhoc School to Deficit Patterns and now after 33 years, we from the MUPSTA we urge the government to fulfil our long pending demand,” said the letter.
The letter by the MUPSTA claimed that the Director of School Education and Literacy (DSEL) Shillong has already completed compiling all information with regard to the demand of up-grading all 844 Upper Primary Adhoc School to Deficit System Vide Memo No. DSEL/EL/MICS/16/2010/PT-1/270 dated 9, 2020.
