Shillong, Nov 29: Meghalaya Rural Bank (MRB) Tikrikilla branch was inaugurated today by the principal of Tikrikilla College, Manseng A Sangma.
Sangma lauded the initiative of setting up a bank branch in Tikrikilla as there are only two bank branches in the area. He expressed his hope that the bank will cater to the needs of the people with its services.
M Islam, Director, Hazarika Construction Pvt Ltd, corporate BC of MRB explained the need for financial inclusion and availing different credit facilities provided by the bank for their economic growth.
Others who were present on the occasion include Chief Manager Marketing, D S Roy, Regional Manager, E C Lyngdoh, Manager NPA M Wankhar, Manager Financial Inclusion, P Marbaniang.
The Tikrikilla branch, with Subankar Das as the branch head, is the 11th Garo Hills based branch of Meghalaya Rural Bank. The bank, which was started on December 29, 1981 as Ka Bank Nongkyndong Ri Khasi Jaintia, was renamed as Meghalaya Rural Bank on May 1, 2007 when it extended its banking services to Garo Hills. With a business of over five thousand crore rupees and a staff strength of 415, the bank has been serving the people of Meghalaya for 44 years. The bank has also achieved twenty two IT initiatives like DISA (Digital Insta Saving Account), Whatsapp banking, mobile & internet banking, missed call alert, QR code, ICCW (interoperable cardless cash withdrawal), BBPS (Bharat Bill Payment System) and others.
