Shillong, March 29: Meghalaya Assembly Speaker Thomas A. Sangma chaired a meeting of the High Powered Committee on the construction of the new Assembly building at Mawdiangdiang.

Deputy Speaker Timothy D Shira, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, Deputy CM in-charge Parliamentary Affairs & PWD (Buildings) Prestone Tynsong, Deputy CM in-charge Urban Affairs Sniawbhalang Dhar, Legislators Rupert G Momin, Charles Pyngrope, Lahkmen Rymbui, Banteidor Lyngdoh and senior Government officials attended the meeting.

The members conducted a spot inspection of the site.

In a tweet, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said that workers are now engaged in clearing the rubble of damages in order to resume construction works.
