Shillong, May 4: Cabinet minister and spokesperson of the MDA government Paul Lyngdoh today said the Manipur government has assured safety of Meghalayans residing in the state.
“In view the ethnic conflict that is currently going on in Manipur, the CM today spoke to his counterpart chief minister of Manipur and he was given a very firm assurance that the safety of Meghalayans is a priority and there is no cause for worry where students or professionals or travellers from Meghalaya to Manipur is concerned,” Lyngdoh told reporters.
When asked, Lyngdoh said, “We hope (it will) not reach to such a point, of course the safety of our citizens is a major concern but we hope things do not escalate beyond the point where they would be required to be moved back and forth.”
