Shillong: The Leshka Hydro Power Project Stage-II, a 210 MW Run-of-the-River (RoR) project, is expected to clear its final hurdle this year, Power Minister AT Mondal said.
The project has already received 11 out of 12 necessary clearances, including environment and forest approvals.
The minister stated that the remaining chapter is the most critical and challenging, but expressed hope it will be resolved by year-end.
“We are yet to clear one window. This is a very tough and tricky window. Hopefully, by this year we will be clearing this window,” Mondal told reporters.
Once all clearances are obtained, the project can proceed, with an estimated cost of around Rs. 2100 crore making it the largest power project in the state to date.
The minister also noted that the acidic level of the Myntdu river has improved, making the project more feasible.
