IIM- Shillong organises International Week 2024

Shillong, July 8: IIM Shillong successfully organized International Week from July 1-6, 2024, under the theme "Ideas Across Borders - Bridging Global Innovation and Local Impact."

The event, coordinated by the International Relations Committee, brought together esteemed speakers, including CEOs, startup founders, IAS officers, professors, and a deputy commissioner, alongside international students from various B-schools to celebrate India's rich educational and cultural heritage.

The week commenced with an inspiring inauguration ceremony, graced by Prof. D.P. Goyal Director, Prof. Naliniprava Tripathy Dean, External Relations, and Prof. Teidorlang Lyngdoh External Relations Chair.

The ceremony was marked by insightful speeches, vibrant cultural performances, and a warm exchange of ideas, setting the stage for a week of global learning. We were thrilled to welcome students from various B-schools across the globe, joining us to experience India's rich educational and cultural heritage.

Participants embarked on a nature trip to Tyrshi Falls and experienced the Behdienkhlam Festival, offering a glimpse into Meghalaya's rich cultural tapestry. They also explored ancient monoliths, gaining insights into the region's historical significance. On the fourth day, students enjoyed a culinary experience at Dial Muktieh Ramew Café (Nesfas) in Khweng, savoring local delicacies and participating in a fruit wine-tasting session, highlighting Meghalaya's rich culinary heritage and fostered cultural appreciation.

The fifth day featured a cultural night with a performance by Colours band, where students from different backgrounds celebrated together, creating lasting memories. The final day began with a successful tree plantation drive conducted by IIM Shillong and Operation Clean-Up (OCU). Students and faculty, including international participants, planted various fruit trees on campus.

Director Prof. D.P. Goyal emphasized the importance of maintaining greenery, while OCU Vice President Jiwat Vaswani encouraged students to nurture the trees for future generations.

The event concluded with a valedictory session where Prof. Naliniprava Tripathi and Prof. Teidorlang Lyngdoh addressed the participants, distributing certificates and celebrating the successful culmination of International Week 2024.

International Week 2024 at IIM Shillong was an incredible journey of global learning, cultural exchange, and mutual appreciation. The program provided international students with deep insights into global business practices while showcasing India's diverse traditions.
