Shillong, June 11: The Jaintia Hills unit of the Hynniewtrep National Achik Movement (HANM) on Sunday threatened to seek the Court's intervention into the substandard repairing of the Jowai bypass in West Jaintia Hills District.
In a statement, president of the organization Shaniah Suchen said they had conducted an inspection to the Jowai bypass and found out that the repairing work is done in very poor quality.
"The road, which has been repaired in just two-three days ago, now has been damaged again and this is seen as a total wastage of public fund," he said.
"Therefore, we demand the state government to immediately direct the contractor to reconstruct the road," Suchen added.
He also warned "If the government fail, we will be compelled to approach the Meghalaya High Court to ensure that action against such wastage of public money is taken."
