Shillong, Sept 11: Four persons were arrested today for their involvement in assaulting the drivers of a fish-loaded Bolero camper from Assam in Ri Bhoi district.
The arrested men include Mustafa Lyngdoh (32), Ricky Tangsang (26), Kyrshanbor Marwein (22) and Shem Warjri (27), District SP Jagpal Singh Dhanoa said.
He said one fish loaded Bolero camper driven by Abu Sadek and MD Dildar Hussain of Morigoan, Assam reported that while they were coming towards Nongpoh side one vehicle (AS 01 FN 4202) Alto intercepted them at Shangbangla, assaulted them and snatched away their mobile phones and cash.
Immediately, other mobile patrolling parties were alerted, and search was conducted in the likely areas. After a while, the patrolling party spotted the Alto near Pahemsyiem and SI SR Marak with his team chased and intercepted the vehicle near treasury office and detained the said car and apprehended one Ricky Tangsang but another miscreant by the name Mustafa Lyngdoh managed to escape, he said.
Later on, with the help of the Special team of Ri Bhoi police along with the CRPF personnel Mustafa Lyngdoh and two other miscreants were apprehended, he added.
A case was registered with the Nongpoh police station.
One white Bolero without number plate, white Alto, 6 mobile phones and cash amounting to Rs 6750 were also seized.
