Nongpoh: Rifiiness Warjri, the 20-year-old Everester from Meghalaya, returned home today, June 21, to a hero’s welcome at Shillong Airport, Umroi.
She was received and honoured by the 61 Meghalaya Girls Battalion NCC, led by Major A.G. Warjri, along with her parents, family members, the Warjri Clan Association, and other well-wishers who gathered to celebrate her extraordinary achievement.
Warjri made the state and the entire Northeastern region proud by successfully scaling Mount Everest on May 18, 2025, as part of the NCC Mount Everest Expedition 2025. Along with five other male and female NCC cadets, she braved extreme conditions to reach the summit of the world’s highest peak, which stands at 8,848.86 meters above sea level.
Her achievement stands as a shining example of courage, determination, and discipline, and has brought immense pride to Meghalaya, the NCC, and the nation.
