Nongpoh, March 30: The Deputy Commissioner cum Chairman DDMA, Ri Bhoi District, Nongpoh has issued an advisory for the general public to be cautious of the windy season with lightning, thunderstorm or hailstorm.

It has advised the public to immediately take shelter during storms, lightning, thunderstorm or hailstorm for safety, Residents must properly store secure loose boards, corrugated iron, unused tins or anything else that could become dangerous during strong winds meanwhile, to check all electrical appliance, windows, doors secured during lightning and storm. Moreover to stay away from metal poles, fence clotheslines, water etc and avoid going or venturing outside.
