Shillong, Jan 17: The much-anticipated ceremonial torch of the Meghalaya Games will arrive in Shillong from Tura on January 18, 2025, marking a significant moment on the countdown to the games.
The torch will be brought to the MUDA Two-Wheeler Parking Lot in Shillong, where it will be displayed for one hour, providing an excellent photo opportunity for enthusiasts, athletes and members of the public.
Following this, the torch will commence its journey at 3:00 pm from Police Bazaar, travelling through the city to Madanryting, symbolizing the unity and spirit of the games.
This event invites all citizens to come forward and witness this historic occasion, showcasing Meghalaya’s rich sporting and cultural heritage.
As part of the 6th Meghalaya Games 2025 to be held in Jowai from Jan 20 to 25, the Flag off Torch Relay Ceremony of the 6th Meghalaya Games was held at P A Sangma Stadium today.
The 5th Meghalaya Games was held at Tura last year and therefore, the flag off Torch Relay ceremony was held here today where Retired Deputy Director Sports and Youth Affairs, J P Marak along with DSP, Tura Walsal Momin lighted the Torch Relay at P A Sangma Stadium, Dakopgre, Tura.
Walsal Momin was the gold Medal winner in Shooting during last year's Meghalaya Games. The Torch would be taken by the Meghalaya State Olympic Association to Jowai for the 6th Meghalaya Games and would halt at Shillong for tonight before continuing its journey to Jowai tomorrow.
